Accessibility and Inclusion

If you don't know what accessibility is, allow me to explain in my own words with regards to the broad spectrum of blindness and those living with it. To me, accessibility is defined as the ease of access with the ability to accommodate those who are differently abled. And if you are a subscriber to the blog, you know I'm all about that. For those who are blind or vision impaired, if something is not accessible to us, it becomes useless for us. Meaning, we aren't able to independently use it and will need the aid of someone who is sighted. If something is accessible for us, we are able to navigate and use it without the assistance of anyone else.

Have you ever tried using something and said to yourself, I wish they would have made this easy for the blind to use. On the other hand, when something is easy to use for someone with blindness, that statement changes to I'm glad they thought of us when they made this. This is when inclusion is apparent. And who doesn't want to feel included.

That's why, in my opinion, you can't have inclusion without accessibility.

About the Blogger

My name is, Melissa. And, I'm happy you are here. Your support means the world to me. The more readers who visit, show interest and interact with me, the better I am able to understand what my readers and subscribers find interesting. My hope is to be able to provide content that everyone enjoys as well as write posts that are informative and helpful to others.

I created this blog to have a platform in which I am able to share various items for in and out of the home that are not only accessible to the blind and vision impaired, they are also practical, stylish and unique.

Making my mark yet again as the first vision impaired Amazon influencer, I am honored to be an official Amazon associate with affiliate links to every recommended item on my blog. The blog was created to make finding things that are accessible and easy to use for those who are blind or vision impaired.

Being legally blind myself, I am always on the hunt for things I can use in my own home that make daily tasks and living easy and more accessible.

With degrees in both Electrical Engineering of Technology and Culinary Arts as a Pastry Chef and Baker, I have discovered so many accessible items over the years that make doing things around the home effortless and easy. Not only that, I will sometimes share video reviews or overviews of the things I write about for a first hand experience and demonstration of how I am able to use that item with a visual impairment.
